Premium Features, Pricing, and How to Upgrade
PathologyLabTraining has three ways to hold access: a Free account, a personal Premium subscription, and Organisation access through an NHS Trust, hospital, university or training provider. This article covers the trial, the plans, how to upgrade, and what each tier includes.
Try Premium free for 24 hours
Before paying, you can try full Premium access for one day:
- Open Pricing or Account Settings → Subscription and click the 24-hour trial offer.
- A payment card is required. The trial converts to the £25 monthly plan unless you cancel within the 24 hours.
- One trial per person.
- While the trial is running a countdown banner appears at the top of the app with a Cancel trial button. Cancelling ends the trial immediately and nothing is charged.

All plans give the same Premium access; they differ only in how long they run.

Card payments are taken in pounds sterling through Stripe. The pricing page also offers Paystack for paying in Nigerian naira (₦10,000 per week or ₦20,000 per month).
How to upgrade
- Go to Pricing. The link is in the site footer and in the trial banner; you do not need to be signed in to view it.
- Choose a plan and complete checkout with Stripe or Paystack.
- Your account unlocks straight away. If a feature still shows a lock icon, sign out and back in once to refresh your session.
- Change plan, update your card, download invoices or cancel at any time under Account Settings → Subscription. See Billing and cancellations.
Getting Premium through your organisation
If your NHS Trust, hospital, university or training provider holds an organisation subscription or trial, you get Premium-equivalent access without paying yourself. There are two ways to join:
- Invitation email: click the link your administrator sent. Create an account or sign in, and access is applied automatically. The same link can be pasted into the Invitation code field at
/invite if the button does not work in your email client.
- Institutional sign-in: if your organisation has single sign-on set up with us, use Institutional access → Continue with UK Federation on the login page.
Which access applies when you sign in: organisation access with an active subscription or trial comes first, then a personal Premium subscription or trial, otherwise Free. If you have paid but still see a lock, sign out and in again; if it persists, email [email protected].

- The learner home page and detailed dashboard
What Premium adds
Each item below shows where to find it. On your home page, the Your tools grid lists all of them; locked tools show a lock icon.
- Full question bank in the Interview Explorer, Bands 2 to 8, across all 12 specialties. Home page → Specialties, or
/interview-explorer.
- Practice Tests by specialty and band. My training → Practice tests.
- Virtual Laboratory: eleven laboratory simulations across Haematology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Transfusion, Histology, Coagulation, Immunology, Virology, Genomics and Andrology — the last with its own full laboratory at
/andrology-lims. Your tools → Virtual laboratory (/virtual-laboratory).
- LIMS Training: laboratory information system workflows for eleven specialties.
