Using the AI Interview Coach

The AI Interview Coach is a Premium feature that runs a mock NHS interview for you, then scores each answer and tells you what to improve.

Starting a session

Open My training → AI interview coach in the navigation bar, or go to /ai-coach. In the settings panel choose:

• Specialty and Band level (Band 4 to Band 8)
• Interview format (for example a panel or technical interview)
• Session duration and difficulty level
• Voice practice mode if you want to answer out loud
• Whether to include behavioural questions

You can also paste the NHS job advert or person specification you are preparing for. The coach then tailors its questions and feedback to that role's essential criteria, values and duties.

You cannot type in your own single question; the coach asks the questions. To rehearse one specific answer, put the role's person specification in the box and steer your answers towards it.

Answering out loud

With voice practice on, click Answer out loud. Your browser transcribes what you say (it uses the browser's own speech recognition, so Chrome and Edge work best), and you click Stop and use answer when you finish. Nothing is recorded as audio; only the transcript is sent for feedback.

How the feedback works

After each answer you get:

• A score with strengths and areas to improve
• Notes on missing technical content for that specialty and band
• A check of whether your answer covered Situation, Task, Action and Result for competency questions

The feedback is advisory. It helps you prepare; it is not an official assessment.

Getting the most out of it

• Rehearse out loud. Typed answers are easier than spoken ones, and real interviews are spoken.
• Paste the real person specification for the job. The questions get closer to what the panel will ask.
• Practise the recurring NHS themes: patient safety, quality management, error handling, equality and diversity, and personal development.
• Combine the coach with Practice Tests: tests build recall, the coach builds delivery.
• Use the STAR answer builder beforehand to draft competency answers.

Privacy

Your practice answers are private to your account. Do not paste real patient-identifiable information; use anonymised or fictional scenarios.
