Using the AI Interview Coach

The AI Interview Coach is a Premium feature that lets you rehearse answering interview questions out loud or in writing, then gives you structured feedback.

Starting a session

Open AI Coach (or Interview Practice) from the menu. You can:

• Pick a specialty and Band combination and let the coach ask you questions, or
• Paste a specific question you have been asked in a real interview and practise an answer
• Use the STAR builder to structure a competency answer (Situation, Task, Action, Result)

How the feedback works

The coach evaluates your answer against the style a consultant Biomedical Scientist would expect at that Band. You get:

• A short score with strengths and weaknesses
• Suggestions for missing technical content
• Comments on structure and clarity
• A worked example or model answer for comparison

The feedback is advisory — it is designed to help you prepare, not to mark you officially.

Getting the most out of it

• Rehearse out loud. Typed answers are easier than spoken ones, and real interviews are spoken.
• Use the Person Specification generator first to make sure you understand what competencies the role expects.
• Practise the common NHS themes: safeguarding, equality and diversity, quality management, error handling, and personal development.
• Combine the coach with the Practice Tests — tests build recall, the coach builds delivery.

Limits and privacy

• The coach uses a rate-limited AI backend; if you hit the daily limit, wait a few hours.
• Your practice answers are not shared with other users. Do not paste real patient-identifiable information — use anonymised or fictional scenarios.
