Taking Practice Tests

Practice Tests are the fastest way to rehearse the style of questions you will meet in a real NHS Biomedical Scientist interview.

Choosing a test

Open Practice Tests from the main menu. Tests are organised by:

• Specialty — Haematology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Blood Transfusion, Histology, Coagulation, Immunology, Virology, Genomics, Andrology, Quality Management, and General Biomedical Science
• Band — NHS Bands 4 through 8, each calibrated to that band's expected depth of knowledge

Pick the combination that matches the role you are preparing for. Band 5 covers core qualified-scientist competencies; Band 6 focuses on specialist knowledge and supervision; Band 7 and above move into leadership, service development, and advanced clinical scenarios.

During a test

Each test is timed. Answers are saved as you go, so you can leave and return later on the same device.

• Read each question carefully — many interview questions test approach and reasoning, not just facts
• The question stem may hint at the expected depth of the answer
• You can flag questions to revisit before submitting

While a Practice Test is in progress the on-screen support chat widget is hidden to prevent distraction.

Reviewing your results

After submitting, your score is stored under My Results. You can:

• See per-question feedback and model answers
• Spot knowledge gaps by specialty
• Retake the same test after revision

Results are tied to your account, so if your organisation has admin oversight, its admins may see aggregated (not individual) progress to help target training.

Who can take tests

• Free users can sample a limited number of questions
• Premium and organisation members have full access to the entire test bank
• If you are part of an NHS trust or university that holds an active subscription, your account inherits that access automatically
