NHS Application Support

This tool turns the blank "Supporting Information" box on NHS Jobs into a structured workspace that ties every paragraph back to the person specification and the NHS Values.

The ten tabs

• Person spec: paste the person specification from the advert and click Analyse with AI. The tool breaks it into essential and desirable criteria and detects the band the role is pitched at.
• STAR: draft competency answers in Situation, Task, Action, Result form for the criteria that ask for examples.
• Statement: build your supporting statement paragraph by paragraph against the criteria.
• Shortlisting: see how a shortlisting panel scores applications and test your own statement against a scoring grid.
• VBR: values-based recruitment questions with model approaches for each NHS Value.
• Bands: what Band 2 to Band 8 roles expect in an application, so you pitch the language correctly.
• Schemes: the training schemes and routes (apprenticeships, STP and similar) that applications often reference.
• Assessment: a scored check of what you have learned; passing it issues a PDF certificate.
• Progress and Achievements: your completion record.

How to use it

1. Open /nhs-application-support.
2. On Person spec, paste the full person specification and click Analyse with AI.
3. Work through the criteria. Use STAR for the ones that need an example, and Statement to assemble the supporting statement.
4. Copy each finished paragraph into the NHS Jobs form as you go. The tool does not save named drafts to your account and has no export button, so keep your own copy.
5. Run Shortlisting and VBR before you submit, then take the Assessment.

Band-aware tone

The analysis detects the band from the person specification and the Bands tab explains what each level expects:

• Band 2 to 4 (MLA, AP, trainee): willingness, training appetite, accuracy, following SOPs
• Band 5 (qualified BMS): HCPC registration, independent authorisation, CPD activity
• Band 6 (specialist BMS): specialty expertise, validation, supervision, audit
• Band 7 and above (advanced or lead): service development, governance, training others, MHRA, SHOT and NEQAS

NHS Values coverage

Aim for at least one paragraph that touches each of the six NHS Values: working together for patients, respect and dignity, commitment to quality of care, compassion, improving lives, everyone counts. The VBR tab gives you a model approach for each.

Limitations

The tool does not submit to NHS Jobs and does not connect to it; you copy your final text into the live application form. The person specification you paste is processed to generate the analysis and is not shared with other users.
