Histology Grading Modules

Histology and cellular pathology grading is highly specialty-specific. We offer six Premium grading simulators so you can practise interpretation against scored cases.

The six grading modules

/histology/grading/gleason — prostate adenocarcinoma Gleason scoring (Grade Group 1–5, current ISUP 2014 / 2019 modifications)
/histology/grading/her2 — breast HER2/neu IHC scoring (0, 1+, 2+, 3+) and ISH/dual-probe interpretation
/histology/grading/nottingham — Nottingham histological grade for invasive breast carcinoma (tubule formation, nuclear pleomorphism, mitotic count)
/histology/grading/bethesda — Bethesda system for cervical cytology reporting
/histology/grading/breslow-clark — melanoma Breslow thickness and Clark level
/histology/grading/staining-quality — practical assessment of H&E and special-stain quality

Result Interpretation module

At /histology/result-interpretation there is an AI-assisted interpretation environment where you can practise on anonymised case sets. This sits alongside (not in place of) the grading modules.

Bands and competencies

Band 5 BMS — recognising adequate vs inadequate slides, identifying obvious abnormality flags for pathologist review, basic IHC interpretation under supervision
Band 6 specialist BMS — independent grading where role allows, contributing to MDT, quality control of staining, training others
Band 7 advanced — leading on grading audits, MDT prep, complex case sign-off where competency-mapped

Grading modules are Premium and require an active subscription or organisation access. They map to IBMS Specialist Portfolio Cellular Pathology evidence categories — completion certificates can be attached to your portfolio.

ASCO/CAP guidelines for HER2 interpretation
ISUP 2014 (with 2019 update) Gleason consensus
WHO Classification of Tumours (latest applicable edition per organ)
Bethesda system 2014 (cervical), Bethesda system for thyroid where used
